DESIGNING YOUR JOURNEY
A walk down Webby Lane

It amazes me when I take the time to look back on a day like this and see how far my business – now our business – has come in just three short years! In this ever changing landscape, it’s exciting to know that doing what I love – learning and sharing – still makes for good business – all designed to work around the family.
Phase 1 – September 2013, started my website, jerimurphy.com, on Squarespace thanks to the advice of friend and kickass startup entrepreneur, Matty Williams. Squarespace was affordable, pretty without effort, easy to setup with no design knowledge and easy to update.
Phase 2 – write like nobody’s business. Every Monday morning I would get up at 3.30am and write 5-6 blog posts for my weekly newsletter. It started out as #MondayMotivation and every newsletter was my chance to learn something new and share what I’d learned that past week… And that morning ha!
I wrote posts about Vend (online point of sale), Unleashed (online inventory management), GeoOP (mobile job management), Receipt Bank (online expense and auto data entry) and Xero (online accounting software). Still to this day, those blogs that I wrote in late 2013 get on the front page of Google searches and create leads for us.
Phase 3 – outgrowing Squarespace. Within about 6 months, i’d written so many blogs that I had to change to another website platform that had better search functionality and categorisation. I pressed the export button from Squarespace and with many hours of trial and error, I convertedjerimurphy.com over to a WordPress site. There were many late nights and some tears hahaha…. But it was all worth it!
Still to this day there are pages on that site that have broken links, missing pictures and just plain old stuff that isn’t irrelevant anymore…. And it’s these three things that have held me back from updating the site – which has been on the top of goals list for the past 3 months!
It’s finally done and here’s why….
I made a decision!
I decided to focus on the future and not the past!
I will create so much new content that people won’t even find the old stuff… So simple, I know!
I decided that creating content is easy and effortless for me now that I have made it a part of daily exercise routine on the treadmill that I have no excuse to believe my bullshit excuses anymore.
I’m not even to go back and look at the old stuff anymore. I know as reader…. You can see the dates on the posts.
I know something else… If you are an ideal client of mine, you want amazing content (which you know I can deliver on!) – you don’t really give a crap about “pretty”.
We all prefer the pretty but if you are like me, you will go for quality content over picture perfect any day.
Phase 4 of jerimurphy.com – The Future
Quality information and a lot if it!
The Cloud Entrepreneur.
You, the one who knows there is a better way using the cloud.
The one who wants to spend less time in the business – more time doing the fun stuff… Whatever fun means to you!
This new evolution into spearheading the #cloudentrepreneur revolution lights me up so much, I feel like a glow worm! Haha…
Bring the cloud to life,
My writing station!
For an hour or so a day, this is my office.
